The Westboro Baptist Church created a new page in the wake of the devastation left by a natural disaster in Oklahoma and it has been hacked by Twitter user @th3j35t3r.

The church is known for making claims against the LGBT community and those helping them achieve equal rights.

Their website, GodHatesOklahoma.com, now directs to the featured image before clicking on to a Red Cross Donation page. It follows the same pattern as a number of their pages, such as GodHatesFags.

Two days ago a tornado raged through Oklahoma City leaving a trail of destruction. You can see how bad the damage was on the BBC News site.

A judge in a Texas courtroom blocked a lesbian couple from living together due to a 'morality clause' in one of the women's divorce settlements.

A judge in a Texas courtroom blocked a lesbian couple from living together due to a ‘morality clause’ in one of the women’s divorce settlements.

Carolyn Compton filed for divorce in September 2010 and had been with her partner for 11 years before their separation.

Judge John Roach Jr., who handled the divorce, added the ‘morality clause’ as an amendment to Compton’s divorce papers. The clause prevents Compton from having a partner spend the night in her home whilst her children are also present.

The clause, which has no end date, means Page Price, Compton’s partner, was granted 30 days to vacate the property they have shared for the past three years.

The only way the couple would be able to live together would be if they got married, but marriage between gay couples is not recognised in Texas. The couple can challenge Roach’s decision, but it will be a lengthy and expensive process which could end up in the US Supreme Court.

Joshua Compton said he wanted the clause enforced for the benefit of his and Carolyn Compton’s children, aged 10 and 13.

‘The fact that they can’t get married in Texas is a legislative issue,’ his legal representative said, ‘It’s not really our issue.’

The couple have agreed to follow the court’s ruling ’even though it will be disruptive to their family and has the potential of being harmful to the children.’

Compton and Price are currently considering whether to file an appeal.

Prime Minister David Cameron has spoken passionately in defence of his controversial gay marriage bill which has seemingly divided the Conservative party.

Prime Minister David Cameron has spoken passionately in defence of his controversial gay marriage bill which has publicly divided the Conservative party.

He told BBC Radio 4: ‘I think we should think about it like this – that there will be young boys in schools today who are gay, who are worried about being bullied, who are worried about what society thinks of them, who can see that the highest Parliament in the land has said that their love is worth the same as anybody else’s love and that we believe in equality.’

With Stonewall reporting that 55% of LGBT children are bullied in school, Cameron hopes that equal marriage being passed will help make the lives of young gay people easier. ‘I think they will stand that bit taller today and I’m proud of the fact that that has happened.’

Britain, if the gay marriage bill is approved in the House of Lords, will follow France who made marriage available to all last week amidst much protest. Cameron said, ‘Every country across the world is having to address this. In New Zealand a centre-right Government has just legalised gay marriage. 11 or 12 states in the US have done the same thing.’

‘On the gay marriage issue, this is an issue clearly that divides the country. It certainly divides the Conservative Party.

But I think it is right for Britain, like other countries, to take on this issue and to determine the right approach and that’s exactly what I’ve done and I’m proud of the fact that this legislation has now passed the House of Commons. That’s a good thing.’

The bill will be debated in the House of Lords next Wednesday, when more controversy and heated discussion is expected.

It may be a year away from hitting the West End, but that hasn't stopped the buzz around the X Factor musical from mounting, especially now it's been named.

The title of the hugely anticipated X Factor musical has been revealed this week. Titled, I Can’t Sing!, the new musical by Harry Hill and Steve Brown, will open at the London Palladium on Wednesday 26 March 2014, with previews from Thursday 27 February 2014.

The brand new comedy, featuring 19 original songs, will go on sale to groups on Thursday 23 May 2013. That date also marks the release of all preview tickets for the show to the general public. Preview tickets are on sale at a reduced rate and with no booking fee.

Harry Hill and Steve Brown said of the show, ‘We’d been umm-ing and ahh-ing about the title for a while…then it hit us…I Can’t Sing!. It also happens to be the title of one of the funniest songs in the show and we hope hints at the direction we’re taking this production. We think it’s also the only musical for a while with a singing hunchback, a talking dog and a man on an iron lung…but we’d have to Google that to be sure.’

The musical has been penned by TV comedian Harry Hill.

‘We’re thrilled to be bringing this all singing, all dancing, all mickey-taking spectacular to the home of entertainment itself, The London Palladium. We’re pretty certain that you won’t have seen anything like it before and it’s great that Simon is backing it 4500%…Roll on March 2014!’

The musical goes behind the microphone and under the judges’ desk to reveal the (not necessarily accurate) story of heartache and laughter that keeps millions tuning in every week. In turn irreverent, anarchic and strangely touching I Can’t Sing! is an affectionate poke at the world’s most talked about talent show that will please friends and foes of The X Factor in equal measure.

With music and lyrics from Steve Brown (Evening Standard and Critics Circle Best Musical award winner for Spend Spend Spend. TV includes Spitting Image, Knowing Me Knowing You with Alan Partridge, TV Burp. Producer of Laura Mvula and Rumer), book and lyrics by Harry Hill (Three BAFTAs, seven British Comedy Awards and a Golden Rose of Montreux) and directed by double Olivier Award winner Sean Foley (Co-founder of The Right Size; Do You Come Here Often?, The Play What I Wrote and Ducktastic. West End includes The Ladykillers and What The Butler Saw), this new production promises a lid-lifting theatrical rollercoaster ride behind the scenes at the mother of all singing competitions.

I Can’t Sing! opens at The London Palladium on Thursday 27 February 2014. Tickets start at £20.

If you haven't heard of reality TV sensation Honey Boo Boo child then where have you been? She's got her own show now, and it's fabulous. Obsessed? Us...?

New TV channel TLC launched in the UK last week, bringing with it a glorious buffet of televisual treats from across the pond. None more so welcome than Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, an entire reality show dedicated to that crazy six-year-old who appeared on Toddlers and Tiaras and became the stuff of legends. Her ‘special go-go juice’ alongside her constantly jiggling belly, cemented her as a viral YouTube sensation. We don’t go a few days without uttering, ‘a dolla makes me holla Honey Boo Boo child’, to somebody on the street. So imagine our excitement when we realised we’d be seeing even more of this little gem, but with the added bonus of her equally entertaining family too. So here’s 10 reasons why we love Honey Boo Boo and her folks…

1. Honey Boo Boo talks vicariously though her stomach

Not content with regularly word vomiting the most hilarious sentences ever constructed, Honey Boo Boo goes one step further by consistently prodding her tummy and pretending to make it talk. ‘Look at this big thing’, she says as she jabs her finger at it – which makes us feel 100% better about that Chipotle we had for lunch. When looking for a Halloween costume in the fancy dress store, Boo Boo (real name Alana) declares, ‘Where are the costumes in my size? My size is the fun size!’ Yep, she’s a total hero. You wouldn’t hear that on Made In Chelsea. The killer line though, comes after yet another failed beauty competition entry, where Alana makes her stomach say, ‘I didn’t win anything at the natural pageant. Those judges were nuts.’ Nuts indeed.

2. She loves the gays

There we were, happily engrossed in an episode when Alana decrees, ‘Ain’t nothing wrong with being a little gay. Everybody’s a little gay.’ Yes, this family of self-admitted rednecks, who live deep in the south of America, are totally gay friendly. Alana’s Dad, (Sugar Bear) has an openly gay brother Lee, who Alana calls ‘Uncle Poodle’. Why Poodle? Well that’s what she calls everything that’s gay. And she couldn’t love her uncle any more. Lee, has since revealed that he’s HIV positive, and hopes to use his new-found star status to spread awareness about the disease, and explain what it’s like to live as a gay man in the south. ‘I think I’ve got a good story to tell,’ he says, and we think so too.

3. The entire family speak a language of their own

Not since Geordie Shore has a reality show bought us so many new words and phrases, including ‘beautimous’, which is normally used by ‘Mama Bear’ June to describe any situation where she’s had her hair done and is feeling fabulous. ‘Wop-sided’ is frequently used by the family to describe how fat they all are, particularly when they discover a pumpkin on the farm which is the ‘same shape’ as Mama June’s tummy. There’s also ‘sassified’, which Alana uses to explain how she feels whenever she gets her pageant dresses on, usually accompanied by some finger clicking. ‘Re-gift’ is where you give somebody back a present they got you during the previous holiday season (we’re totally using that this Christmas). And our favourite phrase of all, ‘biscuit’. No, not the edible, digestible kind. This is the word Alana uses instead of saying vagina. Mama June sets the record straight, ‘It’s called a ‘biscuit’ because it looks like a biscuit, ya know, it opens up and ummm…’ What biscuits has she been eating that open up?! Also, we mustn’t forget ‘vajiggle jaggle’, which is the word used for any excess fat, particularly around the tummy/lady garden area. We dare you to get that into a sentence at work today.

4. A heavy-duty train runs through their back garden

The equivalent of the C2C line train from Shoeburyness to London Fenchurch Street noisily runs through their back garden every 10-15 minutes. But, they don’t seem to care. Or notice. Brilliant.

5. Mama June is petrified of mayonnaise

It’s not that 33-year-old mother of four June dislikes the taste of mayo, she’s literally terrified of it. ‘If it gets on my clothes, I have to throw my clothes away because they will always make me think of the mayonnaise.’ This is perfectly acceptable until she reveals how much she loves potato salad. Erm… Daughter Jessica then pipes in with the notion that she doesn’t eat the white stuff because she’s a vegetarian now. Her sister Lauryn responds angrily with, ‘marannaise (sp) is not a meat’, before a huge family row erupts. We want dinner at their house.

6. Glitzy the pig

In episode one, Alana is gifted with a cute, but constantly screeching, little pig. It soon becomes her best friend, and her heartbreak when it’s taken away a few weeks later (for various reasons) is genuinely adorable. Even though Glitzy is a male, Alana decides he’ll wear pink and be gay. ‘He’s a gay pageant pig.’ We want one.

7. They have amazingly offensive nicknames for each other

Each family member is rarely called by their first name. Instead, they are all affectionately given nicknames, which have the potential to be hugely offensive. Eldest daughter Anna is known as ‘Chickadee’ after she becomes pregnant at 18, middle daughter Lauryn is ‘Pumpkin’, whilst her sister Jessica is known as ‘Chubbs’. Work that one out for yourself. Then of course there’s Mama Bear, Sugar Bear and Honey Boo Boo. No, we don’t know why either, but it fits them all perfectly. The best thing is, even though they scream, shout and curse at one another, you can really see the genuine love they share. It warms the old cockles, it does.

8. Anna’s baby daughter Kaitlyn has an extra thumb

This extra body part provides huge entertainment for the entire Boo Boo clan, and prompts Mama June to show off her big toe, which was crushed by a forklift when she was younger. Yeah, we nearly lost our jam on toast too. But, every cloud…’Instead of giving people two thumbs up, she can give them three.’ Quite Mama June, quite.

9. Nearly everything they say is subtitled

The family talk with such thick southern drawls, it’s almost impossible to understand what they say, which means nearly every epic line they utter has to be subtitled. Rather than becoming annoying, this provides even more entertainment for the show, particularly when they are all talking over one another. It’s even better when the producers couldn’t work out what they were saying either, deciding instead to just place up a series of letters in a random order. Genius. Play the amazing quiz below to see if you can ‘speak Honey Boo Boo’.

10. Each episode is filled with so many one liners, it’s almost inconceivable

You honestly couldn’t write this stuff. Everything the family declares is so hilarious, it makes our cheeks hurt. Here’s the best of a bumper bunch:

Alana – ‘Do you even know how to spell viking? I can close my eyes and do it. V I K N G.’

Jessica – ‘My mother has told me in the past that if you fart 12 to 15 times a day you can lose a lot of weight, so I think I’m gonna lose a lot of weight because I’m gonna fart a lot.’

Alana – ‘Baby Kaitlyn arrived on the biscuit express.’

Alana – (To a gnat buzzing around her face) ‘Move to Africa. I’ll help you pack your stuff.’

Alana – (On Thanksgiving) ‘The Indians lost everything and just got a crappy meal. And casinos.’

Mama June – ‘It’s so hot out here, I’m sweatin’ like a whore in church. I mean it’s like… Man, I’m takin’ a bath in my own sweat.’

Alana – ‘Power tools are a blast.’

Alana – ‘Jessica is scared of a real frog, but not Kermit the Frog. (Pause) I don’t get it.’

Alana – ‘Mama, what’s a corn maze?’ Mama June – ‘It’s corn where they grow it to be…a maze.’

So there you have it. If you haven’t already series linked the rest of the season, then what’s wrong with you? We’ll leave you with our favourite moment of the entire show so far. We know, we’re so kind.

Greg White listens to the debut album from New York-based MS MR, 'Secondhand Rapture'.

The début album from New York-based MS MR began as a Tumblr project of visuals early last year. Indeed, their work has a very illustrative aspect to it; seeing it as weather suggests thunderstorms and tornadoes, seeing it as colour suggests dark and shadowy earth tones. There’s a large industrial sound to the record, but the perspective is personal emotional turmoil. In the first track, ‘Hurricane’, lead vocalist Lizzy Plapinger sings ‘Welcome to the inner workings of my mind’ – and it sounds as much a warning as a spooky seduction.

Producer Max Hershenow manages to keep things consistent despite the use of everything from chimes, harps, rolling drums, orchestra, electronic gurgles, horns and rattling piano. It’s almost impossible not to think of Florence and the Machine if you’re familiar with her music. Plapinger’s voice is the most consistent element of the album; her clear and emotional delivery keeps Secondhand Rapture from straying too far into thematic bleakness. There aren’t any direct moments of safety or love on the album, although there are lighter moments like the bouncy ‘Salty Sweet’.

Standout track ‘Dark Doo Wop’ has an almost jazzy feel with finger-snapping, a playfully dark vocal, and an understated chorus that grows bigger each time it comes around. Lyrically, there are few lines that really stand out; if Plapinger were singing the melodies in complete gibberish, the intrinsic feeling in the musicality of the songs would keep the message perfectly clear. One line that certainly does stand out, as it begins the chorus of ‘Think of You’ is: ‘I still think of you and all the sh*t you put me through’. That pretty much sums up the bluntly distressed and nostalgic feel throughout the record; it is also an extremely catchy rock n roll moment.

Although Secondhand Rapture may be a little ‘Florence and the Machine-lite’, it has some spectacular moments and is genuine in its anguish. MS MR will be playing the Glastonbury festival on 26 June, and have a bunch of other tour dates up on their Facebook Page.

Lloyd Daniels to star in hit gay comedy Up4aMeet

He was the boy next door who caused a sensation on The X Factor, but now, heart-throb Lloyd Daniels is all grown up, and about to star in the hit naked gay comedy Up4aMeet, where he makes his acting debut. Touring throughout July and August the play will visit London, Brighton, Birmingham, Swansea, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

‘Up4aMeet’ stars Lloyd Daniels and Big Brother favourite Nikki Grahame.

Last year the production, which centres around three gay men and their search for love through social media, received overwhelming success and played to sell-out audiences at Waterloo East Theatre. ‘The play really struck a chord with a gay audience,’ said producer David Adkin. ‘We just couldn’t sell tickets fast enough. So we decided to stage the show again. We’ve put a lot of work in since the London run and have an even funnier script, a new wonderful design and a few surprises! We’re very pleased to have Lloyd play Scott. He really is perfect for the part – and I think audiences will see a lot more of him than they have before!’

As soon as Lloyd read the script, he knew the part of Scott was perfect for him; ‘I couldn’t stop laughing,’ he says, ‘Scott is a bit of a dream-boat who takes his clothes off whenever he gets the chance! What would Louis Walsh think?’ Tickets start at £15.

This is my theatre, and I’m delighted to announce that Thriller Live has become the longest running show in its 125-year history.’ Director and Choreographer Gary Lloyd paid tribute to the dozens of singers and dancers who have performed in the West End production before over one million customers, and to the backstage staff, technicians, designers and crew who, he said, had all played a vital part in the success of the show, but largely go unseen by the public. Thriller Live has shattered the previous long-standing record held by Cameron Mackintosh’s production of 5 Guys Named Moe. Thriller Live moonwalked into the West End in January 2009 after three acclaimed UK tours.
Leanne Mitchell may have been the underdog who triumphed on BBC's 'The Voice' last year, but now she has to prove she has what it takes as a recording artist.

When former holiday resort performer Leanne Mitchell soared to success during the 2012 BBC talent show series The Voice, it is fair to say that fanfares far from trumpeted. While the tabloids talked about cancelled tours and Bo Bruce’s alleged fling with Danny O’Donoghue, the gracious winner kept her head to the ground and her goal clearly in focus. Though a mediocre rendition of ‘Run To You’ was rush released as a winner’s single immediately after the competition, Mitchell’s public profile has been pretty much non-existent since her crowning moment. However, it transpires that Mitchell has been far from running away from success, instead simply carving out a début record that will have people talking for the all the right reasons.

Though far from The Voice‘s most credible (Tyler James) or current (Bo Bruce) finalist, Mitchell has in fact crafted the most convincing début of the three. Whereas James’ effort was frankly disappointing and Bruce’s had potential but wilts before it finishes, Mitchell’s eponymous début is well-constructed, unpretentious, honest and engaging. Fully aware that she is primarily a balladeer, Mitchell, who has co-written nearly all of the album’s 12 songs, stays true to what her fanbase wishes to hear.

While album opener, Radio 2′s current song of the week ‘Pride’ kicks proceedings off in an upbeat, anthemic manner, Mitchell allows her emotionally rich vocal delivery to shine on some brave ballads that Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Bette Midler would proudly deliver. Though her début is not without obvious standout moments, notably the Aguilera-esque ‘If I Knew Then’ and Coldplay-driven ‘Walk You Home’, Mitchell’s début is without the all-too-common filler moments.

Though there are the occasional lyrically uninspired moments – LeAnn Rimes’ recent single ‘Borrowed’ explores extra-marital relationships far more succinctly and movingly than the rather blatant ‘If Loving You Is Wrong’ – Mitchell’s eponymous release demonstrates a way with words that will set her in good stead for a sideline as a lyricist. When her capabilities as a songwriter and lyricist meet perfectly in the middle, audiences are rewarded with the undeniable beauties ‘Deep Blue Sea’ and ‘Pull Me To Pieces’.

However, it is her lack of reliance on songwriters and covers that really set Mitchell apart from a large proportion of television talent show winners. While there is a rather delightful rendition of ‘I Put A Spell On You’ to close the album, Mitchell’s determination to show her self within her release puts her ahead of the game. Mitchell is much more than an interpreter of song, she is an emotionally charged social interpreter.

As with the competition that helped launch her career, Mitchell has been seen in the aftermath as the black sheep, the underdog. But as so often is the case, the underdog will prove the eventual winner. While Mitchell may not be as edgy or current as her competitors, her timeless presence and skilful songwriting ensure that her début release will prove the making of her musical status.

Adam Lowe heads to North Yorkshire to try the locally-inspired menu at The Feversham Arms Hotel.

The restaurant at the Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley presents a menu inspired by the game and fish of North Yorkshire. Head Chef Simon Kelly strives for a menu that is ambitious, classic and visually appealing. He uses local produce with a smattering of international flavour to keep the menu fresh. The staff are knowledgeable, keen and friendly, and the food itself is prepared to the highest standard.

The Fev’s special five-course tasting menu opens with a sweetcorn espuma with chicken oyster, which can be matched with a 2011 South African Buitenverwachting-Paarl Sauvignon Blanc/Chenin Blanc. This is followed by a terrine of foie gras, with prune and Waldorf salad, matched with the 2010 Clos Dady Sauternes. Then onto roast sea bream with minstrone and chorizo tortellini, best matched with the 2010 Chardonnay Tormaresca. Goosnargh duck breast and leg comes next, served with haricot blanc and Morteau sausage. This is best matched with the 2010 Quinta Do Crasto Reserva from Portugal.

For dessert comes a william’s pear with peanut, crème fraîche and port jelly. This is matched with an Australian Skillogalee Muscat Liqueur. Finally, the tasting menu is finished off with coffee and petit fours, and an optional cheese course (an extra £12.50 each). The tasting menu is priced at £55 for all guests at the table (ideal for two) and is therefore a pretty fair price, given the high standard of the food. The tasting wines are priced at £32.50 per person. This might be a little on the steep side, given that the wine served comes in small measures, but each glass really does complement the courses they accompany.

The a la carte menu includes a range of starters, mains and desserts. Starters include a Pickering watercress velouté, served with Portland crab and buttermilk. For mains, you could try the sirloin of Yorkshire veal with braised celery, leek, and braised veal à la milanaise. Desserts include chamomile set cream, honey, lavender and orange or cherry, cola and dark chocolate. An additional cheese course is available for an £8.50 premium. Dinner is served until 9pm.

Light lunches are available to both residents and non-residents, and throughout the summer you can take lunch by the pool as well as in the lounges. The light lunches include English lobster salad with mango, pomegranate, bean sprout and papaya; the Feversham Arms burger with Serrano ham, Parmesan, house chips and tomato salsa; grazing plates and tapas; and Japanese-style bento boxes.

Afternoon tea can be taken by the fire in winter or by the pool in summer. Sandwiches, tea, cakes, jam and clotted cream all come as standard, and you can add an indulgent glass of bubbly for a treat. Afternoon tea is served from 2-4pm, and costs £21.50. Tea or coffee can be replaced for Laurent Perrier Brut at a price of £12.

Tea, coffee and patisseries can be taken at any time of day by the pool or in the lounges. The food is great and the price of dishes very reasonable, although we recommend diners check drinks prices—a post-dinner Irish coffee costs as much as a cocktail at £8.95, and the aforementioned £32.50 for the tasting wines is per person, meaning the tasting menu with tasting wine comes out at £120 for two diners. This is fine for a wedding anniversary or special treat, but probably not for a midweek bite to eat.

Finally, the restaurant was spotless, light and airy, and the service was prompt. At the Feversham Arms you can be guaranteed of a classy day or night at the restaurant, or nibbling a salad beside the poool.

More creepy goings-on are afoot in episode two of BBC2's excellent new drama 'The Fall', starring Gillian Anderson. Elliot Robinson gives us the low down.

After last week’s gripping cliffhanger, we were returned to Belfast for the aftermath of Paul Spector’s (Jamie Dornan) attack on solicitor Sarah Kay (Laura Donnelly). Unsurprisingly, she didn’t survive it. What unfolded over the next few minutes was a great example of what The Fall excels at – unnerving creepiness. While DSI Stella Gibson (Gillian Anderson) was busy getting her rocks off in a rather perfunctory manner with boy toy police officer James Olson (Ben Peel), Paul was cleaning up Sarah’s body in the bath with the sort of tenderness one might expect of a parent bathing a child. He then proceeds to stage Sarah’s body on her bed, as well as taking a memento in the form of a lock of her hair. Indeed, having returned home a few scenes later, Paul is shown washing the hair of his daughter with the same apparent care and considered touch. Again, creepy – this drama is certainly on the darker side of crime dramas, though is all the more riveting for it.

Stella’s booty call ends with a role reversal of stereotypes; James is the eager party requesting Stella’s number, while she lies on the bed looking unmoved and underwhelmed. Gillian Anderson continues her brilliant, steely portrayal of Stella – a Sarah Lund type, having a preoccupation with her job and solving the crime at hand rather than getting distracted by inconvenient little things like relationships.

Officers Stone and Ferrington

Officers Ferrington (Niamh McGrady) and Stone (Gerard Jordan), who investigated Sarah Kay’s initial call for help concerning an intruder in the first episode, are understandably distressed to return to her house so soon after, following the news that her sister, Marion (Lisa Hogg), has found her dead body. Ferrington is particularly upset, having instigated a follow-up visit but got no answer as, unbeknownst to either officer, Sarah was actually in the process of being fatally attacked by Spector. So upset is she with how things have unfolded, Ferrington proceeds to report herself to Stella.

Elsewhere, the impromptu appearance of the journalist in Stella’s hotel turns up in the papers thanks to some hidden paparazzi, causing problems with her superiors. Paul and his wife are called to their daughter’s school after she drew the worrying image of a princess who has just killed herself. The teacher wonders if their daughter could be picking up on anything at home. Paul’s wife, Sally Ann (Bronagh Waugh), says that they are always very careful with the things they say around her, and he echoes her sentiments, playing the concerned father. The scene plays like a chilling reminder of how psychopaths and serial killers can go undetected, even if the right questions are asked about genuine red flags.

Shady goings-on and corruption are also revealed amongst the ranks of the Belfast police, as a prime suspect for one of the murders – who happens to be the son of one of the “high ups” on the force – is seen cavorting with another police officer, taking drugs and enjoying the company of naffly uniformed prostitutes. Meanwhile, in what was possibly the most shocking moment of the episode, Officer Olson is gunned down late at night just as he returns home and waves to his young son in the window. One hopes he hadn’t taken off his Kevlar vest yet, otherwise he’s a definite goner.

Alongside all the unsettling scenes was the welcome appearance of The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi as Pathologist Professor Reed Smith. As if one great actress playing a strong female character (Anderson) wasn’t enough, The Fall now has two. Shortly after her arrival – on a motorbike no less – midway through the episode, the pair of them were soon perusing the crime scene together and swapping notes. While these two and Dornan are doing a fantastic job, they’re ably supported by the rest of the cast, with many of the ex-Hollyoaks cast a revelation away from the tweenage goings-on of Chester.

Talking of tweenagers, Paul and Sally Ann’s 15-year-old babysitter, Katie (Aisling Franciosi), is quite the little Lolita, as revealed in the latter part of this episode. With her sights clearly set on seducing Paul, she turns up late one night in the pouring rain just as Sally Ann is about to head out for work. While Paul fetches them an alcoholic drink no less, Katie is left to nose through Paul’s study, where she happens upon the lock of Sarah’s hair Paul has kept. Stupidly, she decides to take it. Paul of course notices and then they struggle as he tries to physically take it back from her.

The commotion causes his daughter to wake up, creep down stairs and witness him overpowering Katie on the floor – can’t wait to see the daughter’s next drawing for school. Paul manages to regain the lock of hair, but hurts Katie’s wrist in the process. He apologises and asks her,’What can I do to make it up to you?’ Clearly not a fan of the show, she replies with a glint in her eye, ‘kiss it better’. Katie – you in danger, girl! The credits roll and we’re again left on the edge of our seats for next week’s continuation of this smart, dark and brilliantly unnerving show.

The Fall airs Monday at 9pm on BBC2.
