Win tickets to Queens of TV Comedy at Ha Ha Hackney

So So Gay offers readers the chance to win tickets to attend the ‘Trailblazers – Queens of TV Comedy’ events at the Hackney Empire as part of ‘Ha Ha Hackney’.

So So Gay has teamed up with the British Film Institute (BFI) and Ha Ha Hackney to offer our readers a chance to win a pair of tickets for the two Trailblazers – Queen of TV Comedy events as part of the Ha Ha Hackney festival, on Thursday 16 August and Thursday 23 August.

The season, part of the London 2012 Festival and curated by Dick Fiddy, takes place at the BFI Southbank as well as at the Hackney Empire and looks at the rise of women in comedy. Nowadays we don’t think twice about the presence of French & Saunders, Meera Syal, and Victoria Wood on our screens and in our comedy clubs. But even today comedy is still a male dominated arena – and it was even more so back in the days of music hall. The BFI Southbank screenings will include compilations of footage from Joyce Grenfell right through to Smack the Pony, while the Hackney Empire will present live acts, including Barbara Windsor, Josie Lawrence, and Rosie Wilby.

To enter simply complete your details before 11:59pm on Friday 10 August. The winner will be notified by e-mail on Monday 13 August.
