X Factor alumnus, Misha B, is back with her second single, Do You Think Of Me, and So So Gay assesses whether the aspiring singer is worth the hype…
Mancunian Misha B was an early favourite to win 2011′s X Factor, but she found herself relegated to outsider after being branded a bully by judge, Tulisa. Clearly shaken by the accusations, Misha retreated into her music, kept her head down and continued to churn out show stealing performances. Regardless of her consummate efforts, the damage had already been done and Misha B finished the contest in a respectable fourth position.
Since then, Misha has focussed her energies on her songwriting and performance, and even made her chart début with the striking ‘Home Run’. As anticipation builds for her début album, Misha has unveiled her second single, the dance ballad ‘Do You Think Of Me’.
Produced by TMS (Emeli Sandé, Professor Green, Wretch 32), ‘Do You Think Of Me’ displays Misha’s impressive vocal perfectly. An emotive narrative allows Misha to bare her soul, while the steady beat gets the booty shaking.
Though the repetetive ‘somebody, everybody’ closing is reminiscent of Vanessa Amorosi’s ‘Absolutely Everybody’, Misha’s latest effort more than proves she has credible pop prowess. ‘Do You Think Of Me’ has unveiled a sensitive side to her persona that oozes appeal. While not the most instant of this year’s post X Factor releases, it is easily the most impressive.
Do You Think Of Me is due for release on 28 October 2012.
