So So Gay needs you: International aid for gay rights?

Our first ‘So So Gay needs you’ feature turned out to be a great success. You came forward to add your voice to our debate about the trend of ‘Hottie or Nottie’ posts on social media.

Next on our list of hot topics is more political in nature. Homophobia lingers on in many parts of the world, not least huge swathes of the developing world – particularly in Africa. Certain high-profile individuals have recently suggested that aid given to homophobic countries could potentially be reassessed unless LGBT rights are respected. We want to know what YOU think about this.

  • Should humanitarian aid to poorer countries depend on their commitment to LGBT rights?
  • Would you advocate a reduction in the amount of financial aid given to developing countries should they refuse to respect the rights of its LGBT citizens?

In order to add your voice to the debate, simply tweet us (@SoSoGay), giving your opinion in no more than 140 characters with the hashtag #ssgneedsyou. Only single tweet responses will be considered for inclusion in Saturday’s feature.

You have until 7pm on Thursday 30 August to tell us what you think.
