Margaret Cho, the legend that defies social convention in all its forms, is to be gracing London this Autumn as part of her global tour, hitting up the Leicester Square Theatre between the 26th and 30th of October with her new show Mother.
Having appeared in a number of TV shows, such as Dancing With The Stars and her own works like The Cho Show, Margaret won our approval by properly enunciating ‘fuck me hard’ in Sex and the City, and her comedy is like that line – perfectly timed, excellently delivered and probably going to offend more than one person to their very core.
Her previous shows, Beautiful and Cho Dependent, have taken untraditional looks at traditional ideas, and her new enterprise promises to be just as honest about everything, with nothing being kept out – least of all her mother, and the presence of strong women in queer culture.
Coming from a strict religious background, her source material escaped the patriarchal culture of Korea to marry the man she wanted to – someone who wrote joke books. ‘I guess we’re in the same line of work. But we don’t understand each other that way. I don’t know why the things he says are funny and the same for him’, according to Cho.
