LGBT Americans for Obama

A number of gay and lesbian celebrities have come out in support of President Barack Obama.

Jane Lynch, Billie Jean King, George Takei , Wanda Sykes and Zachary Quinto, are among the group of public figures that have supported Obama’s bid for a second term in the White House. The YouTube video focuses on the President’s record on civil and, in particular, LGBT rights.

Since taking office, President Obama has spoken out for Human Rights in campaign speeches as well as massive legislation intervention, most notably the repeal of the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy limiting gay military service:

‘We are not a nation that says ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’, we are a nation that says ‘out of many we are one’.’

Obama has also passed acts that allow benefits for same-sex partners, as well as the Hate Crime Prevention Act. In addition to publicly supporting gay marriage in a televised interview in September, Obama’s administration contains more LGBT people than any previous administration.

The video urges the American public to ‘protect change and re-elect Obama’.
