Introducing… The Cab

A pop punk love song with a video based on a text relationship, The Cab release their first single in the UK, ‘Bad’, on 17 September 2012, taken from their brand new album Symphony Soldier.

Now, you probably have not heard of this band just yet. Yet this may all be about to change.

The Cab initially started way back in 2005 when lead singer Alex DeLeon and keys/guitarist Alex Marshall were at college with one another. The band has seen a few line-up changes since, but add Joey Thunder (bass) and Dave Briggs (drums) to the mix and you have the completed band. After playing local shows, a buzz surrounded the boys in their home town of Las Vegas. This added confidence (and some borrowed money) led the band to California to start recording. The band have since toured with Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne and All Time Low and they released 3 EPs and a debut album in 2008.

Step forward Symphony Soldier, the new album hoping to take their sound ‘to the next level’. The album has had a helping hand from many-a familiar face, including Bruno Mars, Pete Wentz (Fallout Boy), Martin Johnson (Girls like Boys), Adam Levine (Maroon 5) and was expertly produced by John Feldmann (Panic! At the Disco, Good Charlotte).

Symphony Soldier was released in the states in August 2012 with shed loads of success. It peaked at #6 in the iTunes Chart, #2 in the rock charts and #3 in Canada.

The Cab now look set to take the UK by storm and we at So So Gay jumped at the chance to check these guys out. The video for ‘Bad’, and their fantastic follow up single ‘LaLa’, are available on their VEVO and YouTube channels, with ‘Bad’ having over 5 million views (and counting…). The song is a mid-tempo pop-punk love song, with lyrics that insinuate a cheeky side to the band as they search for their ‘bad girl’. The song is not one to push boundaries with deep, thought-provoking lyrics; they are, however, ones to watch with their catchy uniqueness and flawlessly smooth vocals and harmonies.

Whilst you’re on the YouTube channel, be sure to check out the spectacular ‘LaLa’. A track that is unlike anything around at the minute, The Cab continue with their cheeky streak discussing one night stands and having someone ‘sideways’ but, again, the vocals are deliciously delivered and the chorus is unbelievably catchy.

The Cab look set to have a very successful year. With over 200k combined Twitter followers and 190k Facebook likes, the band will be over in the UK to promote the release of the single ‘Bad’ next month.

The Cab’s single ‘Bad’ is released in the UK on 17 September 2012 and their album Symphony Soldier is released on 24 September 2012.

Keep up to date with The Cab on their official website.
