‘Fashion Week Internationale’ spotlights Rio’s transgender models

Online documentary ‘Fashion Week Internationale’ investigates Rio’s use of transgender models.

Fashion Week Internationale has returned with an episode spotlighting Rio’s transgender models.

The online documentary, which focuses on fashion scenes across the world, and in particular alternative fashion weeks, has turned it’s spotlight on the Brazilian city for Vice.com.

The first episode sees host Charlet Duboc investigate Rio de Janeiro’s willingness to embrace transgendered models on the catwalk.

She speaks to Carol Marra – one of Brazil’s leading transgender models – as well as investigating the other side of life for transsexuals in Rio by speaking to some of the city’s sex workers.

Later episodes investigate racism on the runway and the conflict between skinny models and the legendary ‘Brazilian butt’.

Watch all four episodes of Fashion Week Internationale at Vice.com.
