Fashion and function rarely coalesce – it’s a fact. No matter how hard we try, macs, wellies, hiking boots, and big fluffy hoodies are never sexy. Or at least they are when modeled by people who can make them appear sexy, but they rarely perform as well in real-life. So what do you do when it’s too hot to take a jacket because you’re going to the beach, but you know full well that it will be colder than a witch’s left one once the sun has had a finale worthy of celluloid? Well we may have the answer: t-shirts with scarves attached.
Discovered during a random romp through Primark with a crazy Scot, we fell upon these marvellously simple creations, although it should be noted that Alexander McQueen included them in a collection two years ago, and the idea is being reworked for Autumn/Winter this year by Armani in the form of a slightly beefier jumper. Made with light material, meaning that it’s cool for the day time, but with a soft and long scarf attached, which is perfect for wrapping up should your sun-burnt neck feel a chill, these are perfect for holidays. OK so they won’t keep the rain out, but we’re talking cotton-poly blend not rubber and leather.
The long scarves help slim the body as they draw the eye down, and the material stretches over and around muscles for the more defined of those reading this.
Frankly these are awesome. Have a look for them next time you are doing an, ‘I don’t know what the weather will be like out there!’ pre-holiday shopping panic, because these rock quite hard.
