EUROvisual: Second semi-final completes Eurovision line-up

Leo Kristoffersson brings you the news from the second semi-final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, came alive once again last night with the sound of Eurovision as the second semi-final of this year’s contest provided the ten entries needed to complete the line-up for this Saturday’s grand final.

The ten qualifying countries from last night’s semi-final are; Lithuania, Macedonia, Norway, Malta, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Sweden, Ukraine, Turkey and Estonia.

As expected, Sweden’s Loreen caused a minor earthquake on Twitter with users predicting that ‘Euphoria’ will win the whole event. Surprise qualifiers come from Lithuania, whose entry ‘Love Is Blind’ was recently identified by So So Gay as one of the weakest songs in the contest; Malta was also something of a shock although Kurt Calleja’s nifty dance moves will undoubtedly have won him fans.

The stage is now set for an amazing final on Saturday night with 26 varied songs of a generally high standard. Bring it on!

The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be broadcast on BBC1 at 8pm this Saturday.
