This morning, the BBC have released the new trailer for series 7 of Doctor Who on their Facebook page. After a teaser trailer released several months ago, heavily featuring a Wild West theme (with an obvious alien twist), we at So So Gay were intrigued to see glimpses of other parts of the new series, in particular the first scheduled episode Asylum of the Daleks, and we were not to be disappointed.
‘So how much trouble are we in?’ asks a bemused Rory – well it appears quite a lot. The trailer opens with the Doctor addressing an amphitheatre of Daleks giving a tantalising glimpse of the eagerly anticipated return of the Dalek. Other highlights include dinosaurs, featuring what can only be described as a comedy turn from a triceratops – no, really. There are new twists on old foes apparently; let’s just say the Weeping Angels and leave it at that. We see the Doctor, Amy and Rory cast down through beams of light to alien worlds, and, of course, there is the obligatory wink from River Song.
The trailer is as interesting for what it shows as for what it does not; do not expect any glimpses of the Doctor’s new companion, or any hint regarding the departure of Amy and Rory. What you should expect from this are bigger and bolder ‘bangs’ from a new series which Stephen Moffat tells us is going to avoid the story ‘arc’ of series 6. We will be reviewing the new series and providing coverage of the 50th anniversary here at So So Gay so check back for updates soon.
