So So Gay's Jon Hornbuckle caught up with Misha B to discuss her latest single, 'Do You Think Of Me', touring with Nicki Minaj, and the truth on those Missy Elliot rumours.
So So Gay: How is your new track, 'Do You Think Of Me', different to your first single, 'Home Run'?
Misha B: Home Run for me was that kind of kid in a candy store feeling, where I just wanted to try all the different styles, whereas 'Do You Think Of Me' is more of a hands in the air type track. I love it.
And how would you describe the sound of the album?
The album is really soulful, there are a lot of different influences, but there is a heavy soulful vibe.
What’s the deal with you and Missy Elliott? Will you be collaborating?
Missy Elliot tweets me now and again, everything is still under wraps with what we are going to work together on, but it is on my list of things to do before I die.
You’ve just come from touring with Nicki Minaj – was that a bit surreal?
I love Nicki and admire her, when they told me I was touring with her I didn’t believe them, I thought they were joking, it wasn't until Nicki tweeted me about it that it actually sunk in.
Is Nicki Minaj a big inspiration?
I do like her, but my biggest influences are Missy, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. That's not to say that Nicki doesn't influence me, I admire her strength and her freedom, but musically I am influenced more by the others.
What do you make of Nicki Minaj's style?
I don't mind Nicki's style and fashion. Sometimes subtle isn't good, too much of one thing is boring.
Do you hang out with any fellow performers back stage?
I love the Stooshe girls, I see them at a lot of gigs so we like to hang out, I try and meet all the people and performers I can.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
In 5 years time I see myself having released a number of albums, hopefully doing a world tour and finding true happiness.
Do you have time for a love life with your career?
I have no time at all for dating, but I am working too hard to even think about it at the moment. Never say never, but right now I am in a relationship with my music.
Whose celebrity body do you admire?
I really admire Adele's body because I love how she embraces her size and it is never really a big deal. She's not fat at all and that's why I love and admire her. Just because she's not tiny doesn't mean she is huge.
