60 Seconds With… Kaya Jones

So So Gay recently reviewed the new single by ex-Pussycat Doll, Kaya Jones. We liked it a lot so were chuffed to have the opportunity of a brief chat with the singer as she releases her solo album.

So So Gay: Hi Kaya, greetings from England. How are you today?

Kaya Jones: I’m great, thanks. I’m looking forward to this interview.

We’re pleased to hear it. So, how did ‘Boyfriend’ come about? Is it from personal experience?

It is indeed a personal experience. My best friend and boyfriend in high school was gay and he had a boyfriend so I felt connected to the song.

What can music lovers expect from your album?

A carefree, fun, up-tempo album. It’s dance-pop-total workout music!

There’s a huge debate in the US and the UK right now over marriage equality. What are your views on that?

Well, I think my video for ‘Boyfriend’ says exactly how I feel. I support the LGBT community completely. I love and support my friends and a family member who have had to battle with this. I believe every human being deserves to be loved, to receive love and to give love.

What are your plans for the next year or so?

Right now my focus is on my album and the music videos we have coming, as well as my record label, HueMan Race Records. I have a tour coming soon to Europe, Asia, USA. So it’s pretty busy. But I love it. I also focus my time on philanthropy. I love to help others anywhere I can. It really fills up my heart.

You can download Kaya’s debut album now from Amazon or iTunes.
