Rapper 50 Cent has spoken out about what life was like growing up with his openly lesbian mother.
He told celebrity blogger Perez Hilton during an interview, ‘my mom was a lesbian. Yeah, she liked women. My whole childhood was like that.’
‘It’s two different things too – from a female perspective, when you see two females together, you think, oh, they’re just girlfriends, they’re close. But, with my mom, the male was missing.’
He said his Grandmother helped him understand his Mother’s sexuality, ‘when you’re that small you don’t see things that would indicate there are other things going on. [My] grandmother would say things like ‘That kiss was a little different from all the other kisses you saw’.’
50 Cent has been very open in showing his support for same-sex marriage, and agrees with President Obama that it should be rolled out across the country. ‘Obama is for same-sex marriage. If the president is saying that, then who am I to go the other way?’
The rapper also recently spoke out about singer Frank Ocean, who came out recently saying, ‘Frank Ocean is a talented artist, I think he’s created material that made me know his name, that impressed me.’

50 Cent has shown his support for singer Frank Ocean, who recently revealed his first love was a man.
This may all seem strange, coming from the man who only a few years ago seemed less than accepting of the LGBT community. He once Tweeted, ‘If you a man and your [sic] over 25 and you don’t eat pu**y just kill your self [sic] damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol.’ He followed this with a Tweet that read, ‘I had my homie shoot up a gay wedding’.
Whatever made him decide to change his views, we’re very grateful, and perhaps his support will appeal to a wider audience in the continuing battle for equality.
