Chas Anderson and the injuries he has suffered from the attack.

Chas Andersen, 20, from Bethnal Green, was violently attacked on Clapham High Street on Sunday night whilst using an ATM, after an unprovoked row over the style of his shorts began as he left KAZ Bar.

Andersen, who used to model for agency Oxygen, was taken to hospital for treatment and x-rays after being left with blurred vision from being punched twice in the head.  However he is said not to have suffered any permanent damage.

Andersen’s partner, Mike Alder, bore witness to the attack but was prevented from aiding Andersen by the attacker’s companions.

In a statement Andersen said, ‘I am scared now and it has affected my confidence. This afternoon I have been wary of going around and I am worried about walking where I normally walk.  I have had to have time off work.  It is the whole experience, it will stay with me.  I have always thought London was the most diverse and open city in the world.  For this to happen makes me realise that these people are still around.’

This incident follows an attack in London at Piccadilly Circus on 2 April 2011 which left Philip Sallon, a close friend of pop singer Boy George, with a fractured skull, and the ongoing furore over two gay men being ejected from the John Snow pub in Soho for alleged kissing.

If anyone has any information regarding the attack, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
